The current contract for management of the Envirowise programme ended on 31st March 2011. Envirowise provided free advice on resource efficiency, specifically waste minimisation and recycling, to a variety of businesses across Wales. The programme was supported by this website, which will no longer be updated but will be available for a time as an archive.
The Welsh Assembly Government is developing a series of sector plans linking to its over-arching waste strategy 'Towards Zero Waste.' These plans include Municipal; Industrial and Commercial; Food Manufacture, Service and Retail; Construction and Demolition; Collection, Infrastructure and Markets; Public Sector, and Agriculture.
As part of the development of these plans, the Welsh Assembly Government is reviewing what further support businesses and public sector bodies may need to help them reduce and recycle more of their wastes. It will consult on its proposals later in 2011, and the results of these consultations will inform programmes from 2012/13 onwards.
In the interim, the Welsh Assembly Government's website for business (www.business.wales.gov.uk) will provide advice and guidance for businesses on how to reduce and recycle waste. The WRAP Wales website (http://www.wrapcymru.org.uk) will provide advice to public sector bodies on how to reduce and recycle their waste.
